The Challenge

Following a competitive tender process Electrio was awarded the contract to upgrade the existing 3200amps Dual Supply Changeover Panel. This included new Low Voltage supplies being taken from existing High Voltage transformers, as well as replacing the sub main distribution panel that feeds the Eye Hospital.

The Solution

All preparation work for the electrical installation was carried during normal hours, whilst the actual sub main supplies feeding clinical areas were transfered over during evenings and weekends to suit clinical departments.

During the course of this project our electricians encountered additional challenges because of the various modifications that had been carried out previously, over the years, to the existing switchgear. We also discovered that there were different phase rotations between essential and non-essential supplies, along with several borrowed neutrals between supplies. Despite this, we covercame these difficulties to provide a safe installation.

“Special thanks for the last push over the weekend to complete all of our tasks. Please pass on our thanks to all of your teams, you have done us proud in the project department. Well done.”

Dairy Crest Limited

“I was very impressed with the dedication and commitment of your staff when carrying out the works to a very high standard in very difficult circumstances i.e. reduced working period, additional works and having to work out of sequence to facilitate other trades. I can only thank you again and ask that you pass this on to all of your team. I do not know how you managed to achieve it, but you did.”

Building Officer, North Bristol NHS Trust

“I have been asked to pass on the thanks of our CEO for your valuable assistance during the power supply problems of Sunday evening and Monday morning. Please extend this to all members of your team who were involved in the works. ”
