The Challenge
Following a competitive tender process Electrio was awarded the contract to upgrade the existing 3200amps Dual Supply Changeover Panel. This included new Low Voltage supplies being taken from existing High Voltage transformers, as well as replacing the sub main distribution panel that feeds the Eye Hospital.
The Solution
All preparation work for the electrical installation was carried during normal hours, whilst the actual sub main supplies feeding clinical areas were transferred over during evenings and weekends to suit clinical departments.
During the course of this project our electricians encountered additional challenges because of the various modifications that had been carried out previously, over the years, to the existing switchgear. We also discovered that there were different phase rotations between essential and non-essential supplies, along with several borrowed neutrals between supplies. Despite this, we overcame these difficulties to provide a safe installation.
