Milsom Place Bath

Installation and Maintenance | Retail

The Challenge

Milsom Place in Bath is home to a select range of stylish fashion boutiques, along with several well-known restaurant chains. When it was originally refurbished Electrio installed LED lights in the communal areas.

Since the installation was completed five years ago, Electrio was asked to conduct an Electrical Condition report in April 2018 in accordance with BS7671 regulations.

The Solution

Businesses must periodically have electrical inspections to ensure they are confirming to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, BS 7671. As part of this electrical inspecting and testing, Electrio’s electricians reviewed the fixed wiring system at this busy shopping centre.

Since the shopping centre is open seven days a week, most of the testing was carried out during normal hours. However, several tests, including the isolation of supplies, had to be conducted out of hours to minimise disruption to the business.

Following tests, several code 2 defects were identified, largely down to deterioration of external items within the installations. These were corrected so that a new satisfactory certificate could be issued.
